It all began in 1934 in Ridgetown, Ontario.
Lyle and Ina Gray established an egg grading station in the very competitive Southwestern Ontario egg market. By 1969, they had eliminated the competition and established L. H. Gray & Son as the one & only egg grading station in Ridgetown. In 1970, Ina Gray created the “Gray Ridge Eggs Farms” brand: a combination of “Gray” – our family name, and “Ridge” – a nod to our Ridgetown, Ontario roots.
Today, Bill Gray proudly carries on the family tradition. Under his leadership, Gray Ridge Eggs, Inc. has grown to become one of the principal players in the Ontario farm-to-table egg market, supplying eggs to thousands of grocery stores and restaurants under the Gray Ridge Egg Farms, GoldEgg and Conestoga Farms brands.
From Day 1, our mission has been to provide Ontario families with quality eggs. And from Day 1, our partnership with Ontario egg farmers has been vital to fulfilling this mission. The egg farmers we work with are hand-picked by Gray Ridge because of their passion for egg farming, their dedication to their hens, and their commitment to producing only the highest quality eggs.
To further demonstrate our commitment to Ontario, all locally produced Gray Ridge eggs are certified “Ontario local” by Foodland Ontario. Each carton of Ontario eggs – whether it be Gray Ridge, GoldEgg or Conestoga Farms branded – proudly sports the famous Foodland Ontario logo. Learn more about Foodland Ontario.
That original grading station in Ridgetown has grown into multiple state-of-the-art egg grading facilities in Southwestern Ontario, where the Gray Ridge employee family lives and breathes food safety and quality every day. Each facility has earned an SQF (Safe Quality Food) Level 2 food safety certification from the internationally renowned Safe Quality Food certification body. All grading stations are also approved within the Canadian FSEP (Food Safety Enhanced Program) administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). “Keep growing. Keep building. And operate as if you will go on forever.” That’s Bill Gray’s philosophy. It’s brought Gray Ridge Eggs a long way since 1934 and it’s what keeps us moving forward every single day.
